FOCUS OF RESEARCH: The Bill of Rights


STUDENT OUTCOMES:

The 11th grade unit focuses on multi- draft reading of a variety of informational texts (video, graphics, print, online texts) and connected literature relating to American rights.


KEY CONCEPTS:

annotation of a text, cross-text connections, democratic values, historical connections, human rights, multi-draft reading


ESSENTIAL QUESTIONS:

How do we balance the tension between individual rights and the common good?

How do the texts I am reading relate to the overarching them of human rights?

How are these issues I am encountering personally relevant?

What is the historical context of the issue?

How does the issue connect to foundational documents?

How are foundational documents, informational texts, and literature connected?

How do I read difficult historical texts?
